VMobil® is an electronic patient chart with CPOE. The user interface is based on the previously used paper-bound patient chart, but provides additional features to support physicians throughout the prescribing process.
Pharmacists at the Paediatric Clinical Study Centre, together with senior physicians, compile dosing recommendations for drugs that are commonly used in children and make them accessible via VMobil®. The objective is to provide evidence based prescribing guidance, especially for active substances being used off label due to a lack of authorised alternatives.
Information on dosing is obtained from clinical practice guidelines, summaries of product characteristics (SmPC) and recognised national and international standard references.
The current AVOID-Study investigates the impact of VMobil® on medication safety at the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.
